What is Dysport®?
Dysport® is a safe, injectable treatment that can be used to soften wrinkles and fine lines between the eyebrows, otherwise known as “frown lines.” This product is approved for use in 57 countries and has over 25 years of clinical experience worldwide. It is also well-loved by the patients who receive it: 97% of them said that they were satisfied with the results of their treatment.
How Does it Work?
While wrinkles are caused by a number of different factors, certain wrinkles, referred to as “dynamic” wrinkles, are primarily the result of repeated muscle movements. “Frown lines,” or furrows and lines that appear between the brows, are one of the most common examples of dynamic wrinkles. Because these wrinkles are caused by facial movements, they can appear in people of all ages.
Dysport® combats these types of wrinkles by slowing the muscle contractions that cause them. When a small amount of the neuromodulator botulinum toxin is injected into the muscles, they begin to relax. Once these muscles halt their contractions, the wrinkles they cause have time to smooth and soften. Because this neuromodulator only stays in the body for a few months, your wrinkles will return to their original state until you undergo another injection session.
What can I Expect from Dysport® Injections?
While some patients feel a degree of discomfort during injections, each session typically takes no longer than 10-20 minutes. Once you’ve completed your treatment, no follow-up care is required — you can get right back to your daily routine! Possible side effects following treatment include nose and throat irritation, headache, pain at the injection site, nausea and eyelid swelling or drooping. If you experience any of these symptoms and they last longer than 48 hours, contact your doctor immediately.
Improvements become visible 2-3 days after treatment, with full results typically lasting up to four months. After this period of time, additional injections will be needed to sustain your results.
